The popular record producer and musician, Goodwill Malinga, better known by his stage name, Dr Malinga, has sent his gratitude to the people of his hometown in Hammanskraal for coming out in the cold to support and help him celebrate an award he won for the Best Kwaito Album at the 23rd South African Music Award 2017.
He said he might do another event in December to make up for the winter event. “The people of Hammanskraal came out to support me despite the chilly weather and I think I owe that to them,” said Dr Malinga.
The event to celebrate the award was held this past Saturday at Makgoba Sebothoma Multipurpose Centre in Unit D organised by Lingas Entertainment and started at 12:00 till 2:00 in the morning with Dr Malinga giving the last performance.

Most of the people interviewed by Moretele Times complained of the event being organised in winter. Mr Morgan Baloyi from Temba, said Lingas Entertainment should refrain from organising events during winter “it is cold and people will not attend in numbers like they do in other events “.
The event also helps promote local businesses and some business people were able to make some money from the event through selling their products.

“This is not only about fun, it is also a great opportunity to generate income,” said Ms Dipuo Hlongwane, a hubbly bubble hire business woman.
Ms Lushia Molekwa a 49 year old woman who collects used containers for recycling said she was able to fill three municipal plastics with empty tins that she will sell, she said she said she arrived at the venue at 16:00 and her plastic bags did not take time to be filled up, “I will surely fill up more and it means more cash for me,” she said.
Many other business people said they benefited from the event despite the cold weather.
