Residents of Majaneng who resides near the storm water channel that serves as an overflow system for Majaneng dam raised concerns that flood prevention stones are being stolen at the water channel.

A community member who did not want to be named said a group of people have been stealing the stones to sell them to an unidentified woman.
The perpetrators allegedly disclosed that they sell a donkey cartload for R200 to the woman who stays at Park Town in Majaneng who is building a modern fence with the stones.
Members of the tribal council and the community confronted the perpetrators yesterday and forced them to offload the stones. The police were called and could not come after two hours allegedly because they did not have enough vehicles.

“This has been going on for long now and we tried to tell them to stop but they turn a blind eye. I stopped them sometime last week when they passed my house after loading the stones and asked what they were doing, but they could not reason with their actions,” said a community member.
At the time Moretele Times left the scene, the police had not come.
